I am a 62 year old oral surgeon, and amateur trumpet player. I began
my love of the trumpet in the late 1940's after my parents bought me
the album "Rusty in Orchestraville" in which Del made the trumpet
speak and play Carnival of Venice. When I wore that album out, my
parents bought me another. I never tired of hearing "Tommy The
Trumpet", and it inspired a love for the trumpet which continues to
this day. Thankyou for creating this wonderful website to honor a
legend in the trumpet world. I enjoyed Napoli, but couldn't open the
other files.

What a pleasure it was to hear Staigers' great playing once again. I was fortunate to have heard him in the '40s and to have studied with Jimmy Burke.

I am a former solo trumpeter with the Band of the Funen Life Regiment, and I now play in the oldtimer Band, that also performs solos of the golden age. This a very fine site you have made Del Staigers in memoriam!

60 years ago when I was 10 my brother Dick had a record of Dels Carnival of Venice and the sheet music. We would listen to the record and follow along with the sheet music and were always amazed that anyone could play that fast and beautifully.

First heard Del Staigers play the Carnival of Venice when I was in an Army band in 1951. It was a record being played on the radio. I was always impressed with this arrangment, and how he played it. he was a great player, and this is a terrific web site.
