Hello,
I'd like to offer to publicate a link on my e-book about the great Russian
trumpeters (in English) for uncommercial free download on your site.
I made this book in order to trumpeters all over the world know more about
biographies of the best Russian players (for free use!).
The book will be quite finished by the 2005 year. Now you can download and
see yourself as example not full demo version from the first Russian site
about playing the trumpet http://trumpet-club.narod.ru/e/gr-rus-tr2.exe
There will be a chapter PARTNERS in this book. If you will accept my offer,
I'll add a link and short information about Your web-site in this chapter.
Let me know about your replay.
I trust you will consider my request.
Truly yours,
Alexander, the trumpeter

My father had a recording of Del Staoger playng Carnival of Venice. Must have bought it around 1935. Last time I heard it was 1950 or earlier. I just remembered the name from the record all these years and his fantastic playing. Then by impulse I searched the Internet. Thanks

This is awesome! I will post a link to your site in the next hour because it is so valuable for people to hear these great players. Claude Gordon, my teacher, spoke so highly of Del Staigers that he said nobody has ever played Carnival of Venice as well as Staigers. Claude also told people how his CG Personal mouthpiece was modeled after Staigers' mouthpiece.
Thanks again!

In my youth (some fifty years ago) I was a cornet player and learned the craft from Arban's Method. I managed to acquire six of the recordings of Del Staigers, who was my ideal. Thanks for the web site.

What a nice site! My daughter Beverly and I came to see what we could find out about her Great-Great Grandpa Del. I have heard great stories of him over the years but mostly thought my Mom (Julia Staigers) was just exaggerating. How incredible to see (and hear!) what a fabulous player he really was. Thank you so much for putting this together.

Great work, Mark! It's so wonderful that the past is being honored and preserved.
I am involved in a lot of Hollywood history right now. I am doing research for a book about the brass players of Hollywood from the start of recording to the present. I would like to know more about the studio work he did. Was he in a radio or movie staff orchestra?

An era of true musicianship. where playing an instrument demanded perfection. What a contrast of todays electronic dribble/garbage we have gotten so used to. I would give anything to go back 100 years and be part of that time.
Thanks for your efforts in taking us back to that time. Keep up the good work.

Mark,
Thanks for your dedication and hard wonderful work in preserving the memories of such musicians as Del Staigers. His legacy is one showing not only tremendous talent but also the hard work and dedication required to be such an artist on the cornet. In this day of instant "musical stars ????" it is such a pleasure to read about and remember those who truly deserve the term "star".

Interesting site! I have much respect for Mr. Staigers and his influence on both cornet and trumpet players who came after him. I know he had influence on my teacher, Gordon Finlay, who was solo cornet with the Navy Band for 20 years, starting in the 40's.

I am now 62 and have spent my adult life practicing law. But in my youth I was something of a trumpet prodigy. One of my fondest memories is playing Staigers' arrangment of The Carnival of Venice to sucessfully audition for the New Jersey All State Orchestra when I was 14. For many years I have been looking for a recording of Staigers playing The Carnival of Venice, my old "78" recording my band director gave me having disappeared decades ago. I am so delighted to have found this recording and this website. Staigers was truly monumental.

My father was the step son of Del Staigers, hence my last name. Del died about the same time I was born so i never met him, but my father told stories about him, and never had a bad word to say. He treated my father as his own. I had no idea this existed, and I thank you for keeping Del's memory alive.
